On view: I am going to see Clinamen at Park Ave Armory this weekend before it closes. . It's the largest iteration yet of Céleste Boursier-Mougenot's floating installation — circular basins of water where ordinary ceramic bowls drift and gently collide, chiming as they go. The New York Times called it a symphony played by 30,000 gallons of water.
Summer reading: I love Sheila Heti so was happy to see her book recs in the New Yorker, Two Serious Ladies, The Ladies’ Paradise, and If Only.
On fake promises and bad bosses: My friend Claire's book Don’t Be Evil comes out next week. It’s about escaping big tech. She is so funny and whip-smart so I am sure it is going to be a treat.
For dinner: Dept Of Culture has been around for about 5 years but I just ate there the other night and highly recommend it. It was born out of the IYA EBA popup dinner series hosted by Ayo Balogun of the Council Cafe.
A store: I loved Routine Pleasure, a new, very curated store in Woodstock with outdoor apparel and more. They describe their collection as “outdoor equipment for fast and slow pursuits.”
On film: For a sweet dose of summer nostalgia, watch Stella Blackman’s short film Turning 13. It follows a young girl named Margot as she counts down to her 13th birthday in the Ozarks.
A uniform: I am constantly in search of the perfect white t-shirt, maybe one of these is the answer.
Photography: I found myself looking into the 1991 show Pleasures and terrors of domestic comfort which was on view at the MOMA, and while the out of print book is quite expensive you can view it in its entirety here.
